Viltrox H18 Tube Light

Viltrox sent me this interesting two sided tube light to check out and make a video on. This overview follows my collaboration terms I’ve defined with brands. I usually keep the devices sent to me, but they have no say in the content of anything I create. If products sent to me are low quality I simply don’t make a video and will return it to the manufacturer at their own expense. The tube light from Viltrox. Check it out on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3MDp1j9 As an amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.  Watch the overview on YouTube. At the end of this article I have a full transcript if you prefer to read. https://youtu.be/aUr-Sd17SEM Introduction: The Viltrox H18 tube light is a versatile lighting tool that offers both RGB and bi-color options. With its compact design and numerous features, this portable light provides flexibility for various lighting needs. In this article, we will explore the key features and specifications of the Viltrox H18 tube light. The light h...

Canon M6 Mark II HDMI & 10-bit Output?

I’m writing all of this down in case sources disappear and I want to reference M6ii HDMI-out information in the future.  Selecting clean HDMI from the settings. So this is not by any means a definitive source but rather a jumble of information I’m putting together in the moment. The “HDMI info disp” setting to select clean output mode. This camera's 4K isn't really that size internally, but better than 1080p at least. There is one webpage I know about that mentioned the Canon EOS M6 Mark II supports clean HDMI output in 10-bit 4:2:2. I don’t think the page exists any longer on Canon USA’s website because the old link no longer works after a redesign. https://youtu.be/_UT9u0XVn5U However it does currently exist on the Internet Archive .   A screen capture from the  Internet Archive  webpage copy. Here’s the important quote from that webpage:  HDMI recording: Menu-selected user choices for HDMI output with info (images recorded to the SD card); Clean 4K output, or...

Nikon Z5 v1.40 Firmware Eye AF Improvements!

Various links go to my affiliates, I earn from qualifying purchases! Nikon released a firmware update for the Z5 that specifically says improved and expanded eye autofocus functionality. That’s a solid upgrade! Let’s take a look… You can download the firmware update from the the Nikon USA website . Obviously if you are outside of the USA then check your country specific Nikon website for the update in case there are regional differences. Here’s my video testing out the new firmware compared to v1.20 and a Canon EOS M6 Mark II with two lenses that have a similar field of view. Though, not a lot of those Canon testing clips got into the video… https://youtu.be/gNQLjdvVf7E Consider picking up a Nikon Z5 Digital Camera through my affiliate links: B&H Photo Video Amazon Adorama Best Buy ebay Used on KEH Here is the official list from Nikon’s website: Added support for the iOS version of NX MobileAir . Can Bing GPT AI Chat help me compare two cameras?

I was planning on making a simple comparison video between the Canon EOS R50 and the Canon EOS M50 Mark II. Right before I starting recording I received an e-mail that I gained access to Bing Chat , the new GPT AI natural language website and extensions to the Edge browser. This goal seemed like a good test of Bing Chat to see if it can work for this use case. https://youtu.be/-HDAI6xnpp8 I used Chat GPT to summarize the video transcript: Bing Chat isn’t capable enough to do this and it’s limited to 2000 characters per message. ChatGPT appears to have a limit around 4000 and it’s significantly better at using the text I provide it. Why that happens is impossible to say with what I know, but I’m guessing that it’s a mix of low processing budget, confusion from web results, and maybe a simpler model overall with not enough training on each subject.  Bing Chat called the Canon EOS M50 Mark II a DSLR camera which is incorrect. Opening Talk Canon is a well-known camera brand that produ...

Sigma 16mm on a lighting display photo walk

I’m a fan of the 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens, but it isn’t perfect. In this video I talk about enjoying a beautiful Japanese styled garden while they had a Christmas holiday lighting event while doing photography with the Sigma 16mm and the Canon EOS M6 Mark II. https://youtu.be/garkrYhIqao I’ve photographed this garden for years but always find unique ways to enjoy photography there! This lens is available for multiple mirrorless mounts. There would be slight field of view differences between this Canon EF-M version and the Sony, Fujifilm, and L-mount versions but other than that pretty similar. At the garden. Check out the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens through my links: B&H Photo Video , Amazon , Adorama , ebay , Walmart , and used on KEH . Or check out the trio of Sigma DC DN primes on B&H . Make sure you get the correct lens for your mount! As an affiliate of these shops, I earn from qualifying purchases!  You can learn more about the lens on Sigma’s ...

Canon USA Refurbished & Repair Process

I purchased a refurbished Canon EOS M6 Mark II back in early August 2022 after selling equipment to KEH (side note, I’m trying to go back through my earlier videos and create at least a simple website article about each. One of which will be about the KEH selling process ) Information from Canon. Here’s how buying the camera and initial unboxing went: https://youtu.be/6qn3ggA_HkM The purchasing experience was good, but the camera had a few issues… The AF point positioning button doesn’t have as much travel as the other buttons. The bottom panel shows a bit of paint gone. The LCD does have a dark spot toward the center of the screen. Technically everything worked, but the one button was especially odd. I ended up keeping it. In retrospect not the smartest idea. I used that camera for photography a number of times, but eventually swapped it out with the black M6ii I had in my indoor video rig. The silver version didn’t seem as robust as the black so it made sense. The button with an issu...
